Content at a Glance

Fundamental Concepts of Project Management

Day 1

The Fundamentals module of this program introduces the competencies that every Project Manager must have including Scope, Time and Cost Management . Other competencies include Quality, Human Resources, Communications, Risk, Contract and Procurement Management.

Initiating Projects and Programmes

Day 2

At the end of the Initiating Projects module participants will develop competencies to enable them understand the the project and its scope. At the end of this phase the project manager and his team must have a clear answer to the question, "What is the Project being undertaken?"

Planning Projects and Programmes

Day 3

The move into the planning activities signals a change in emphasis from exploring
the ‘what’ to the ‘how’. You will learn how to detail the project work – what needs to be done by when, who needs to do what, how much and when do we need resources etc.
The product of this phase of activity is a detailed plan document, which is either approved or rejected.

Implementing Projects and Programmes

Day 4

The Execution or implementation phase is where all the action happens. In this module you will learn how to compare actual progress with desired progress – or actuals with baselines to form an accurate view of status or progress of the project. This has to be done for all three constraining areas – time, cost and performance.

Closing Projects Effectively

Day 5

The final phase in the project is the Closing Phase. In this module, you will learn the tasks that draw together all the loose elements of the project and assist you in forming a view as to whether this project achieved what it was supposed to. It is also the opportunity to measure success or otherwise on the project and to bring this to the attention of the project owner/sponsor and key stakeholders.
